V-Day Campaign sponsors The Vagina Monologues

The Wartburg College V-Day Campaign is sponsoring benefit performances of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 14 and 15, at 7:30 p.m., in McCaskey Lyceum. Tickets will be $5 at the door. The Vagina Monologues dives into the mystery, humor, pain, power, wisdom, outrage, and excitement buried within women’s experiences. Proceeds will be donated to Cedar Valley Friends of the Family. V-Day is a globally organized response against violence toward women and girls and the Wartburg College V-Day Campaign hosts V-Week Feb. 11-16 to raise money and awareness of V-Day's mission. Other events include a silent auction in the McCaskey Lyceum lobby Feb. 11-16 and an exhibit of the V-Day photo series, on display on the second floor of Luther Hall.

Student Senate debate and elections

Please join Student Senate for the Elected Positions Debate on Monday, Feb. 11, at 6 p.m. in WBC 214 (Buckmaster). We will begin with the recorder candidate, move on to the treasurer candidates, and finish the debate with the president and vice president candidates. Vogel third-floor rooms reserved

Wartburg CHATS: Alliance

Philanthropy Week

Members of Students UKnight have placed tags around campus to raise awareness of the impact our donors have on campus. Summer 2019 classes

Many of the Summer 2019 classes are now available to view online by using Course Finder or Course Search. To register for summer classes, obtain a Summer Registration Form in the Registrar’s Office or under the Special Request Forms for Students from the Academics tab of My Wartburg. Please continue to check the schedule as additional classes may be added.

Wartburg Board of Regents reception

President Colson cordially invites all faculty and staff to a reception hosted by the Wartburg Board of Regents on Friday, Feb. 15, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Heritage and St. Elizabeth Ballrooms. A highlight for Regents of the February Board meeting is the opportunity to meet with faculty, staff, and students during their time on campus. 2019 HLC interim report submitted

Through a strong and sustained group effort, the second of the college’s three Higher Learning Commission interim reports was submitted Feb. 1. It is available on the InfoCenter. The next step is to wait for the commission’s response and continue working on preparing the next report. The progress we made over the last year would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of the members of the HLC Monitoring Report Steering Committee, the Assessment and General Education Committees, academic and Student Life department chairs/program heads, and the faculty and staff involved in the assessment efforts. Collectively we have all contributed to creating a more sustainable culture of improving student learning through outcomes assessment on campus. Phil & Lit Society

The Wartburg Philosophical and Literary Society will meet Friday, Feb. 15, at 4 p.m. in McCoy West of Saemann Student Center. The Rev. Dr. Walter Bouzard, professor of religion, will present “Wabi-Sabi Me: A Dilletante’s Venture into Zen.”

Title IX training deadline

Just a reminder that the Title IX Training sent on Thursday, Jan. 10, is due Friday, Feb. 15. To take the mandatory Title IX training, please click here. Your username is your Wartburg email. Click the “Forgot Password” link and create a new password. Sign in and start the training listed on your dashboard. NSTA presents Science o' Love Night

Pre-K through sixth-grade students are invited to join the Wartburg College NSTA (National Science Teaching Association) and future educators for a fun-filled evening Thursday, Feb. 14, 5:45-8:30 p.m. Students will participate in cool science experiments, have fun with reptiles, and learn to LOVE science. Dinner will be provided. Parents, enjoy a night out on the town without your kids and have a wonderful Valentine's getaway! The event will be in Becker Science Hall, room 102. Cost is $25 for the first student per family and $10 for each additional student per family (three students in the same family would cost $45). Cookies for Kindness

SAFE will be tabling during lunch and dinner at the bottom of the Mensa stairs Feb. 11 and 12. Stop and buy cookies for you and your friends for $1 each. April Presidential Forum date change

The April Presidential Forum, held in Buckmaster (WBC 214), will be changed from Tuesday, April 2, to Tuesday, April 9.

2019-20 Operating Budget Requests extension

The deadline for 2019-20 department operating budget requests has been extended to Friday, Feb. 15. If you are a department budget manager, please refer to the guide posted on the Business Office website for specific guidance and instruction on the steps to follow. You can expect to receive an email with additional information and budget templates specific to your department within a few days if you have not received them already.

This week's Chapel services

Weekday Chapel services are from 10:15 to 10:35 a.m. each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in Wartburg Chapel; Sunday services begin at 10:30 a.m. Chapel time is a brief opportunity to gather with students, staff, and faculty to reflect on God and faith. Interfaith chapels will be held the last Wednesday of each month during the semester.

Service of healing and lament

Are you sick, feeling overwhelmed, or grieving something? The campus community is invited to a special service of healing and lament during regular Chapel time on Wednesday, 10:15-10:35 a.m., in the Chapel. Bring your burdens and receive God’s promise of hope and presence in your life.

New discernment group for students

Students are invited to a discernment group called "(w)holy listening" after Sanctuary at 10 p.m. Wednesdays in Chapel Commons (basement of the Chapel). Halcyon Bjornstad, director for the Integrated BA/MDIV Degree program, leads the group for any student who is interested in listening to God's call in their life. Whether that is choosing a major or deciding what to do this summer, all are welcome to join. For more information, contact Halcyon.
