You can order a giant heart cookie for your sweetheart through GET online ordering (order through the Catering Take Out store) through Tuesday, Feb. 14. Cookies will be available for pick up in the Den. V-Day Campaign sponsors The Vagina Monologues |
The Wartburg College V-Day Campaign is sponsoring benefit performances of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 14 and 15, at 7:30 p.m., in McCaskey Lyceum. Tickets will be $5 at the door. The Vagina Monologues dives into the mystery, humor, pain, power, wisdom, outrage, and excitement buried within women’s experiences. Proceeds will be donated to Cedar Valley Friends of the Family. V-Day is a globally organized response against violence toward women and girls and the Wartburg College V-Day Campaign hosts V-Week Feb. 11-16 to raise money and awareness of V-Day's mission. Other events include a silent auction in the McCaskey Lyceum lobby Feb. 11-16 and an exhibit of the V-Day photo series, on display on the second floor of Luther Hall. |

2019 HLC interim report submitted |
Through a strong and sustained group effort, the second of the college’s three Higher Learning Commission interim reports was submitted Feb. 1. It is available on the InfoCenter. The next step is to wait for the commission’s response and continue working on preparing the next report. The progress we made over the last year would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of the members of the HLC Monitoring Report Steering Committee, the Assessment and General Education Committees, academic and Student Life department chairs/program heads, and the faculty and staff involved in the assessment efforts. Collectively we have all contributed to creating a more sustainable culture of improving student learning through outcomes assessment on campus. NSTA presents Science o' Love Night |
Pre-K through sixth-grade students are invited to join the Wartburg College NSTA (National Science Teaching Association) and future educators for a fun-filled evening Thursday, Feb. 14, 5:45-8:30 p.m. Students will participate in cool science experiments, have fun with reptiles, and learn to LOVE science. Dinner will be provided. Parents, enjoy a night out on the town without your kids and have a wonderful Valentine's getaway! The event will be in Becker Science Hall, room 102. Cost is $25 for the first student per family and $10 for each additional student per family (three students in the same family would cost $45). Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at West Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont. There will also be a one-hour visitation before services at the church on Tuesday. 2019-20 Undergraduate Research Funding Deadlines: • | 2019-2020 R.J. McElroy Student/Faculty research fund | Application/Deadline: Email shawn.ellerbroek@wartburg.edu for an application and cover page. The cover page and proposal (as a word document) are due Monday, March 18, to Sally Malcolm in the office of V.P. for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty. Proposals will be reviewed by a panel of faculty members, and up to four proposals will be forwarded to the McElroy/Iowa College Foundation for consideration. Eligibility: One or more students of junior or senior year standing from any department. Applications require dual authorship by the proposing student or teams of students (two or more) and a sponsoring faculty member. Research in credit courses is not eligible. If awarded, funds will become available after June 1, 2019. Qualifying activity: The research fund will cover any expenses necessary to support activities defined in a credible research proposal (supplies, travel, student stipends). Maximum award is $2,000. Applicants awarded a 2019-20 McElroy research grant remain eligible to receive a Wartburg 2019 Student Summer Research Fellowship (as outlined below). |
