Bishop Emeritus Munib A. Younan of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land will visit Wartburg Theological Seminary and Wartburg College from April 3-5. Younan will speak at Wartburg College on Thursday, April 5, at 4 p.m., on “Loving God & Neighbor: Living Out the Biblical Call in the Holy Land” in McCaskey Lyceum in Saemann Student Center. On Friday, April 6, Younan will speak during Weekday Chapel at 10:15 a.m.

In 1976, Younan was ordained at the Church of the Redeemer, Jerusalem. Over the next 12 years he served the ELCJHL in various capacities in areas of pastoral leadership, youth leadership, and Christian education. In 1990 Younan was appointed president of the ELCJHL Synod, a position he held until his election and consecration as bishop in January 1998. As a bishop he also chaired several boards and committees within the ELCJHL. Bishop Younan retired from the office of bishop in January 2018 and continues to serve as president of the Lutheran World Federation.
